“Why do you wear a mask? Were you burned by acid or something? ”
“Oh no. It’s just they’re terribly comfortable. I think everyone will be wearing them in the future.”
Masked Mistress of Illusion sais: I think it’s her eyes, really.
Everyone wear masks, some just do it more openly than others. As a famous pirate once said; “A dishonest man you can always trust to be dishonest. Honestly.” Thus, if it wears its mask openly, you can trust it to be true to its nature. And as the Mother here sais, masks are not only to hide behind. There’s no end to the usefulness of a mask.
“Like everyone, I wear a mask. To hide myself, what I really am, from the world. For my own sake. But much more, because I know the world do not want to see me. I wear the mask for the sake of the world. As does we all.”
Wuse, you should have seen the old comments before the site was re-vamped: at one point (i think it was at the bridge for the first time) the number of Dread Pirate Roberts references hit critical mass.
Good to see the best traditions of Digger comments being kept up. Kudos.
Through asin using magic stones to see, or through as in using semi-transparent stones to help tue ruse that she is blind?
I’m guessing they’re opaque and mundane.
By the way, if anyone was curious, this was the spoiler page I referenced having seen earlier.
A couple of things: 1. It was the bone MOTHER. 2. This is a pretty feminist comic–lots of female characters where traditionally they might have been male. You’d think after a year’s worth, people would have figured that out. In the comments, every time a new character is introduced, at least one person goes with the assumption that it’s male, even in this case where it was quite patently NOT. *sigh*

And, in the case of his particular mask, it really brings out his eyes. 😉

Took me three re-reads to catch Wuse’s reference, but I smiled when it sunk in.

I wear a mask because my mistress makes me.
reminds me of how the discordians use ‘do you believe that’ to make you think
