  1. Tom Long says:

Ahh, Digger living up to her name as usual :)

  2. TekServer says:

But is the tunnel unnecessarily convoluted, or just necessarily convoluted to avoid the “small ridge in the way”?

  3. Fixer-Wolfie says:

I like how Grim-eyes rolls her R’s when she’s mad. And I must make this point, if it was translated, it’d be difficult to make it as funny as we can imagine it being, knowing Ursula though, she’d find a way.

  4. Tindi says:

Possibly roughly translated as “Up yours, Earth Rat”? :P

  5. Cailte says:

Where is she putting the dirt?

  6. JET73L says:

Is not said small ridge the ridge through which she was digging? I had wondered earlier why Digger had not tunneled at a right angle earlier, to avoid being hit by a less hesitant spear or another arrow, in which case is the tunnel unnecessarily convoluted, or just cobvoluted enough?

@Cailte: Could she be compressing the dirt into temporary shoring, after digging the tunnel slightly more wide and tall than it now appears to be?

  7. Lord the 22nd says:

I think it’s dug like that to make it seem like it’s a dead end to anyone looking in without actually being in the tunnel.

  8. BunnyRock says:

re-posting old, old comments… “Ok, am I pure evil for even thinking this, but as soon as Digger got into that hole I thought …

“If I were the Hyena I’d just smoke her out. No-one goes hunting without matches or flint and tinder or something, and it’s conifer woods with wet soil, so A, lot’s of dry resinous stuff that will burn hot and B, lots of wet, non-resinous stuff that will smoke like hell when put on a good fire. I could fan it in her direction with a piece of bark or failing that my loincloth or something.”

After all, it’s only a hole. Anyone who has ever dealt with rabbits or at least read Watership Down knows holes are only as safe as the situation they are put in. If the smoke didn’t get her the heat would probably dry out the soil, and she said it was only likely not to collapse due to the moisture in it.

Is it wrong that sprung to mind so quickly?

  9. TekServer says:

No, BR, it’s not wrong. It’s just smart tactics applied to a theoretical (for us) scenario.

    IMHO, of course.

  10. Draco Dei says:

Gathering those materials in enough quality might mean moving far enough from the hole to allow the prey to make a break for it.l
