missing “be” in “people don’t get to rude”? Yell if pointing out this sort of thing isn’t helpful and I’ll stop it 🙂

  2. Kasper says:

I think my grammar would start slipping a bit after prolonged talking to Ed, so perhaps Digger just suffers the same?

  3. Rowanmdm says:

Now that Digger has reaffirmed her friendship, Ed is back to being Ed and is no longer “it.” Shows how powerful having a real friend is.

  4. TheLivingNick says:

Hmm, it looks like he stopped himself from saying Grim-Eyes’ full name. Are the Nameless not allowed to say others’ names as well?

  5. Xyon says:

Very interesting question, Nick. I wonder…

  6. Tindi says:

I’m just happy his ears came back up. He looks so pathetic (in a sad, lovable way) when hi pulls his ears in.

  7. Lica says:

Maybe someone without name is not allowed to use the name of “Real people” (hyenas), names seem to be important for the Hyena’s status and identity.

  8. JET73L says:

Hmm… It might not even be “real” hyenas in general whose names Ed wants to avoid, but Grim Eyes in particular, and it’s merely strong, enforceable etiquette that nameless not act familiar with “people”. It did seem like he was familiar with using Grim Eyes’ name and hadn’t gotten used to avoiding it over the last seventeen years of solitude.

I already had a pretty good idea what had happened to get Ed’s name eaten, but the pieces are falling into place where I expected, and hopefully the center of the puzzle will reveal itself before too long.
