  1. Lucius Appaloosius says:

    Just noticed an important detail:

When we first saw the heart, it was suspended by *ropes* – NOT chains. Does this mean the Cold Servants have been upgrading their technology? 7@=e

    See: http://www.diggercomic.com/?p=254

  2. AngelicDirt says:

Why do I hear Ernest P. Worrell when Ed says ‘Ewww. Eww. Ewww.’ ?

Also: FINALLY! All caught up! I was even good and didn’t archive binge all at once. A chapter a day, really. Needless to say, this is an awesome comic. And I shall be returning on Tuesday. :3

  3. Madam Atom says:

Aha! Tindi and Lucius, thanks for finding the lizards. I’d completely forgotten the multiple-rope suspension, though–thanks to the current version, I misremembered it as suspended from one big chain while the lizards pulled on smaller chains. Funny thing, memory.

Hang on. So … no lizards … and nothing there for them to pull on … and no sss-thud sound effect. So the heart’s not beating. So is it dead now? Or a decoy, and the real one’s three chambers over or something?

The ribs around the heart are missing, too.

Either Ursula’s memory is as bad as mine, or our furry friends have been had.

  4. Hawk says:

Well, back then, they were draining the heart (look one comic earlier than the one Madam Atom linked). Soooo maybe there isn’t anymore blood to drain, and they don’t have to “pump up” the heart as much? Or someone heard Digger’s comment about pulleys and got busy with that…(ew)

They did say his liver was intact at that time. Possibly the ribs and other…parts…have gone the way of the blood and, and stuff.

Where DID the blood go? Who uses/needs/wants the blood of a dead/dying god?

    ….What do demons eat, again?

  5. Rags says:

SQUA-PLORCH!: The sound of a hyena outcast landing on a giant heart.

    Who says comic aren’t educational?

  6. Octane says:

    Lick it.

  7. Attic Rat says:

Well, if nothing else, the hooked end of the crowbar might make a useful climbing tool. It’s not very sharp, but it has plenty of weight behind it and Ed has to have built up some muscles from his hunt-for-food life… it should puncture the heart enough to gain a handhold. -And it’s not like he’s never killed anyone before…

  8. fixman88 says:

    Remember the crowbar, Ed!
(I don’t know how much longer Digger can keep those Servants busy!)

  9. Allie Lewis says:

@ Lucius: The heart was suspended by the chain–the newts were pulling on the ropes to make it beat, I think. She mentioned it earlier. So Ursula’s still in the clear.
