Digger

My apologies, gang, but I came back from my trip to Michigan sicker than a sick thing. (We now add “flying with head colds” to the list of unsung human miseries…I think one of my ears is STILL popping…) Drawing the world’s roughest wombat doodle up there exhausted me–I’m going back to bed.

🙁 I hope you feel better soon!

  2. Silverfish says:

    Aww, get better soon!

  3. Sparky Lurkdragon says:

Hope you kick that sickness like a kicking thing. Get well soon!

  4. Bwee says:

Get well soon! Threaten the sickness with Ed’s tea!

  5. Archaemic says:

Oh man, I had a headcold while flying once. I was in so much pain even after the flight…my head felt like it was going to burst. I bought so many tissues on that trip that I still have some of them! And that was 5 years ago! On the plus side, I can now say I have imported French tissues.

  6. TekServer says:

Hey, everyone, remember how clapping is supposed to heal Tinkerbell in the Peter Pan stage production? Well, maybe voting for Digger on TWC will do the same for Ursula!

    (Hey, it can’t hurt … )

  7. DanielCoffey says:

Off to the hag with you!

  8. Arcaton says:

    Ach. Get well soon!

  9. hartree says:

Ya gotta lay off that carnivore liver, I tell ya.

    A quick recovery to you!

  10. Ketira says:

Well… I hope you feel better soon, but remember:

Keep those sinuses drained! That way it won’t get any worse!

  11. I voted, but drink plenty of fluids and stay off your paws anyway…

  12. Jassius says:

Where is that hag when you need her…
“She surely has some really nasty concoction that would heal something like that in a couple of sleep hours”
I wonder if the RL doctor would be flattened or offended at the comparisson.

Here hoping for an speedy recovery!

  13. Nivm says:

Your artistic skills did not fail you while sick, for the design describes how you’re feeling so well.

  14. duskDiamond says:

Not a cure but lemon and rose petal tea with a heap of honey can help. Certainly nicer than a trip to the hag…And gah! Ear popping 🙁
    Good sleep, no dream.

  15. Barry says:

No disrespect to the hag, but I’d be looking to Owl Caller for help.

  16. arioch says:

    Get well soon!

  17. Loren says:

I hope you feel better soon!

  18. Wombat32 says:

I just voted, and Digger is at #26, which I think is the highest so far. Not far behind the #25 comic, so there’s a good chance we can get Digger into the top 25!

  19. Charlie says:

Feel better, Ursula! Don’t hurry back until you’re 100%. 🙂

  20. quiltcat says:

Feel better soon! remember…lots of liquids and plenty of rest! the resident felines here have lots of experience in practical nursing and they’re packing up their little doctor bags and heading right over with a cauldron of that universal healing draught “chicky shnoodle soup.”

  21. The_Rippy_One says:

    feel better!

  22. Madam Atom says:

I think I like Bwee’s idea the best. Watch all the little viruses running away!

  23. theysabet says:

**dismay** Feel better! And for all the gods’ sakes, don’t let Digger sneeze, with a nose like hers she’d take a wall down. Try some hot mint tea with a ton of honey and lemon– it won’t cure a thing but it’ll help clear your head and keep you hydrated. Hot-and-sour soup helps too.

  24. Lindale says:

    Get well soon!

  25. Karyl says:

I second the hot and sour soup idea, it always makes me feel better! A good shot of apple cider vinegar and a spoon of honey in water can help too.

  26. Thess says:

    Feel better soon!

P.S. I think “Flies with Head Colds” sounds like a very interesting name for a character…

  27. DCL says:

Get well soon, and best of wishes on that speedy recovery.

  28. rueyeet says:

Flying with allergies can have the same effect — decongestants are always part of my carry-on gear, now. Get some well-deserved rest!

  29. JewelWolf says:

From what others are telling you, I would suggest tea as well. I’d like to add my two cents to your list of tea recipes, of course. I’d go with a nice rosemary and mint tea with a good bit of lemon and sugar.

  30. Sara says:

Aww, I flew with a head cold about a year ago… god oh god the horror. Hope you are feeling better soonest!

  31. Hawk says:

Chamomile tea, peppermint tea, those would be my choices. Then again, I also tend to eat a lot of Altoids when I have a head cold or yucky sinuses. It doesn’t do a damn thing to *cure* me but boy does it make it easier to breathe…!

Also, Zicam. Possibly expensive, yet quite worth it. Failing that, just taking some Zinc and Vitamin A supplement can seriously help you get better quicker!

And I do hope you feel better soon! *many hugs*

  32. Istas says:

Sicker than a sick thing? Wow, your witty banter gland really must be infected something awful. …but wait… since that is funny, it’s like, inverse unwitty banter, and curves around to witty again. Hah!

I also dread the (for me randomly) attacking ear pressure pain when flying, so much so that I’ve considered swearing off air travel all together. I hope you get well soon (and not just because that means more comics sooner, hehe)

  33. Chip Uni says:

    Get yourself well, Ursula!

To add to the remedies suggested:

Garlic-Chicken-Garlic Soup. With good vegetables. It’s my absolute favorite placebo.

  34. BunnyRock says:

    get well soon!

  35. Melissa Trible says:

it may not be entirely a placebo, Chip Uni. Garlic has proven antimicrobial properties. Plus the useful effects of sufficient hydration, adequate nutrition, and steam.

  36. JewelWolf says:

Whoever is caring for Ursula right now is gonna be sooooo busy cooking up our soups and teas (and that one cider.)

  37. Jessica says:

Oh poor thing hope your getting vitamin C to fight it. Get well soon. I love this comic and can’t wait to see were it goes next.

  38. CaptainJack says:

    Healing thoughts incoming!

  39. Quizt says:

What an elegant little sketch! Thank you for thinking of us, even in your extremity.

I could irreverently propose a different cure, in hopes that laughter, too, might help loosen the congestion…

The cure involves a four-poster bed, a bottle of Scotch, and one old shoe. One ties the old shoe to one of the far bedposts. One then gets into bed and starts drinking the Scotch. When one sees two shoes, one stops drinking; when one wakes up – *quite* a while later – the cold is gone.

Whatever banishes the cold, may it do so soon. In the meantime, Ursula, you have our very best wishes.

  40. Nicole B says:

Feel better soon, Ursula! Personally, whenever I’m sick, I drink gallons of the brothiest soup my university is serving that day and curl up into my “miserable corner” with a blanket. I also start reading “The Hobbit”, only because Bilbo gets sick from floating in the river, and I feel better reading about him being as sick as I am! (I guess misery loves company…)

  41. the dark ferret says:

Hope you feel better soon, Ursula!

  42. Kelardry says:

I just got over a cold. my parents had this wonderful medicine, but you can’t buy it anymore. I don’t remember what it was called. It tasted worse than musinex but it really worked.

  43. Kelardry says:

and get better soon and drink lots of apple Cinnamon tea

  44. Matanui3 says:

World’s roughest? mine would be rougher, and I’m not even sick!

  45. Lucius Appaloosius says:

A little tot of rum (or whiskey, brandy or what you fancy) in your tea, along with the honey and lemon, is always comforting…….. 7@=e

  46. jecook says:

I have been there (flying with a head cold), and hated it. Not only was I rendered clinically deaf for the trip and a day after, but it hurt.

    Get well soon!

  47. fixman88 says:

Get well soon, Ursula! Believe me I know how bad head colds can be….

  48. L Gore says:

Get well soon! My favorite cold palliative is a strong rum toddy and chicken soup with LOTSA garlic in it. (although my house mates tend to avoid close presence with me at these times)

  49. dorktasticsteve says:

Hope you feel better soon, Ursula! Con crud strikes like a demonic wedgie.
