Murai plays two parts in the equation: one, as @Jassius pointed out, she provides the immovable barrier to the irresistible force — Jhalm or his crew probably won’t intentionally hurt her.
Too, Murai has the second sight (and a psychotic streak) left over from an earlier encounter with a god. This might come in useful — and perhaps Boneclaw Mother is aware of this.
“You have a warrior’s liver…” Yes,surely. But Boneclaw Mother has onions, a skillet, and a good fire, right at that perfect-for-cooking-over-the-coals-stage…
Meanwhile, Murai is trying to figure out if the statue of Ganesh is movable, and if there’s some way to put him in front of the door. ^^ Or just, you know, randomly doodling into the porch with her swordpoint.
Murai is the ace in the hole. Jhalm and his crew would attack ten times the hyenas for a cause they felt worthy… and they’re going to have to fight the hyenas to continue their quest. When that fight’s over… will the remaining men fight Murai? BCM is trying to convince Jhalm that his is a losing battle – no, she’s trying to get Jhalm to convince himself it’s a losing battle. *grin*
Also, I’d like to start a campaign: Boneclaw Mother for President. It’s time for REAL change. π
Ah, Nivm, Boneclaw Mother is thinking out loud. She’s sharp, she has a fast, clear mind; and she’s carefully leading her new acquaintance to a realization that he doesn’t want to approach, the sort of realization that causes your own shadow to manifest if you aren’t careful.
I don’t usually have much to say, so I don’t say anything, but I just have to chime in once in a while… The drawing style and the story are just awesome, Ursula. Thank you.
I agree – Boneclaw Mother for President. And the Psychic Slug for running mate, because VPs aren’t actually useful for anything, but one who can see the future might be
@werebear Given he’s banished if nothing else I doubt he’d make the residency requirements. Besides, he’s an honest, lovable, articulate person with a good soul and not a gram of fight in him. Why in the world would you want to subject him to politics? I’d go for the Hag. She’s got a mean temper and does whatβs right for people in her charge even if they don’t like it. Or Shadebones: within the tribe sheβs basically VP any way.
Why does boneclaw mother remind me of the doctor suddenly? The speech that stops the villain perhaps?
Ah…she’s thinking of someone who’ s not part of the tribe. I love Boneclaw Mother! Plus, way to find the common ground.
Boneclaw Mother is awesome.
Brave Murai. How could anyone forget her? <3
“You didn’t flich a hair…” π
Yeah, sure. LOL!
So, How many of your warriors will agree to attack a girl with a broken arm?
What happened to Jhalm’s braid?
Did… did Boneclaw Mother just let her disability slip…?
Can we not see Murai because she is under the awning… or has she moved, and Boneclaw isnt aware of it?
I don’t have a link, but vote!
Also, what part of the eqation is she?
@ Jassius
Sure Bring it on!
I have the link. Use it!

How did she ‘see’ her?
Do hyenas like liver? Yes they do!

And all this also stalls and gives Digger more time.
I do not see the girl.
I have used The Link. He swung his sword, and gave me nearly worthless emeralds.
You don’t see Murai because the “camera” is pointed at the porch right in front of her, before her feet are “in frame.”
I love how cinematic this is getting, btw.
And of course, Boneclaw Mother. “You have a warrior’s liver, I’ll give you that.” Awesome π
Yay! Boneclaw Mother has definitely earned her stripes! She even realized that even without an army, he’d go anyway. She knows ALL the angles.

GUILT TRIIIIIIIP!

Lovin’ it! And Digger is at 29 as of my vote π
I’d totally vote for Boneclaw Mother. Who were you thinking of for her running mate?
Also, as of my vote, 25!
Shadowchild for VP!
I found it kinda jarring that Murai needed to be pointed out.

Ravyn — how about Surka? Or possibly better yet, the Hag?
I know I’d vote Boneclaw-Hag. Somehow the idea of Surka that close to the oval office frightens me, though.
You’re kidding, right, Ravyn? Of course…. Ed would be VP!
Off topic, but I will check back on this page,
How can I get vol 4 and 5.
