  1. Kaiya says:

And so the party splits up… never a good idea!

Of course, Murai and Digger are probably the least capable of combat, if it comes to that. Digger does wield a mean pickaxe, but the two of them still look so vulnerable…

  2. macdjord says:

That… is one boast I expect shall be tested.

  3. Lanthir says:

I am once again struck with the overwhelming desire to cosplay as Grim Eyes. Someday I shall figure out a way to make this work.

  4. Jer-oh-me says:

Uh-oh, careful Grim Eyes, pride cometh before a fall and all that. Though it is a cool boast even if it is tempting fate.

  5. Grim Eyes, humble as usual πŸ™‚

  6. JewelWolf says:

Isn’t it Digger’s people, too? Why must only Grim-Eyes go? Well, I suppose she does have a seat of power with them… Digger is still a little shaky with the rest of the tribe, even if she does make a mean partier.

  7. quiltcat says:

I like how Grim Eyes called Digger “sister”…and i love Surka’s snouty little profile next to Murai.

  8. Mark Antony says:

Grim Eyes understands that Digger’s mission is far larger than just the fate of their tribe. Besides, getting rid of Jhalm won’t mean squat if the cold servants overrun everything.

  9. smjjames says:

Well, she is an honorary member for saving Grim Eyes life a whole bunch of chapters ago when she was about to fall off the bridge but she has a larger misson here.

Given that Grim Eyes is the best hunter of her tribe, on top of bieng a naturally predatorial species, there is likely some truth to that boast.

  10. I love how free flowing and easy your art is Ursala. One day, when I have a little more time, I’ll have to go back and catch up on all the chapters I missed in the middle.

  11. Marrock says:

Be that as it may, I’m sure it’s the non-human trackers that will prove to be more of a challenge.

  12. jassius says:

“The human hunter has not yet been born…”
Hey, look! Birnam Wood is moving πŸ˜›

  13. TekServer says:

    > … she is an honorary member for saving Grim Eyes life …

Actually, as a point of information, she was inducted into the tribe to save face, because she led a bunch of cold servants to their deaths in the vampire squash patch, thereby avenging Skull Ridges death (which, as a matter of honor, must be done by a member of the tribe, since she was killed by hyenas).

  14. TekServer says:

Hey everyone! I just discovered that Digger is now listed on TopWebComics (finally!)! So go vote for it: http://topwebcomics.com/vote/10180/default.aspx

Go! Now! What are you waiting for!

  15. Kisune says:

Aha, Grim Eyes has her serious hat on, I wonder. Jhalm may just have gone a step too far ;3

  16. JewelWolf says:

That’s GREAT news, TekServer! I voted.

  17. Hawk says:

    Me too!!

  18. nano2ba says:

    This is my favorite comic.

    No not webcomic.

    Comic.

All of it is really good, but the characters and gems of humor/wisdom are the best (and original!). Also like almost all webcomics it does not suffer the problem-of-the-month/issue syndrome that many many production house comics have.

This is one of the only media which has a main focus of exploration (with a side helping of morals humor and mystery). Only certain hard science fiction like The Cold Equations focus on exploration as well, because Fantasy, Folklore, Mystery, etc. all have an agenda to fight evil, teach morality/religion, solve a (pressing! critical! no time to lose!) mystery etc. Even The Oddessy was about fighting The Gods and the unnatural.

  19. AlpineBob says:

Me too. I wonder how long ago it happened – I could swear I checked TWC for Digger not long ago and didn’t find it. But there are at least 39 comics that joined since 10180…

Digger is a clan sister, but not an especially great scout or warrior. If tunnels are called for I’m sure Grim Eyes will be back for her asap.

  20. Kevinbunny says:

Tracking – no chance at all…
Accidentally stumbling across around the other side of a rock? We may have a problem.

  21. jassius says:

Position 406 and just two votes to get to Digger in this month’s top 400 now 8)

  22. Otookee says:

    Nooooo! Don’t Split The Party!

    > Nooooo! Don’t Split The Party!

    > I wonder how long ago it happened
Had to have been recent. My vote for Digger that day was number 7. And I’ve been looking for Digger on TWC once or twice a week since I discovered TWC …

    πŸ™‚

  24. Mark Antony says:

    >”Hey, look! Birnam Wood is moving”
    Brilliant!

  25. Mishal says:

Grim Eyes will be fine, I’m much more worried about what will happen to Ed if the Veiled find him, he certainly *can’t* go back to the “reservation” they’re trying to designate.

  26. Blue says:

MAN I love Grim Eyes. And the fact she called Digger “Sister” this time just makes me smile like an idiot. πŸ™‚

  27. Otookee says:

I’m not worried about the Veiled and Ed, they don’t seem to have noticed him all the years he’s been in that cave. I’m much more worried that the Cold Servants will have tracked Digger’s trail to Ed’s cave and kidnapped him (or killed him, but I hope not – if nothing else, that would make it harder to have the emotional scene where Grim Eyes reconciles with Ed).
I’m hoping we’ll see something where Grim Eyes forgiving Ed is somehow symbolically necessary for She-Is to forgive He-Is. Perhaps Grim Eyes has to eat He-Is’ liver – we know it’s still there along with the heart…

  28. BunnyRock says:

@Mishal & Otookee. I am worrying. It’s not as if Ed is prone to wonderful luck and fortunate serendipitous accidents. If the Veiled and the cold Servants went out giving out free prime cuts of steak, free cuddles and unconditional love and sympathy in some bizarre charity drive, he could quite easy be discovered sleeping choke on his t-bone, have his cuddler slip and accidentally pull him down onto their sword-blade which somehow accidentally popped out of its sheath whist trying to perform the Heimlich on him to get the steak-bone out, and somehow fall victim to an inter-galactic portal opening up and sucking the words “Unconditional love and sympathy” across time and space for them to drift across an negotiating table at an inopportune moment causing terrible war on an unprecedented level. In which case if the survivors of the war band together and decide to go for Ed our only hove is that if we are very fortunate, an error in scale will case the entire war-fleet to get accidentally swallowed by Surka.

    Oh, and i voted!

  29. TekServer says:

You know, BR’s comment brought me back to this page and I casually scrolled up to re-read it, and a thought occurred to me (be afraid): Grim Eyes makes the claim that no human can hunt her if she doesn’t want to be found, but wasn’t she the one, not all that long ago, that went Rustlerustlerustlethuddammitrustlerustlerustle … (etc.)?

    πŸ˜‰

  30. Areetsasaurus says:

Well, one would assume that A; she didn’t know that particular region well, or, more likely, B: she wasn’t trying particularly hard to be stealthy.

The consequences of sneaking up on a wombat and all that.

  31. BoardEntity says:

the freddy approach always saves the day…

    or not..

but seriously maybe murai will talk again for the first time in like 30 pages. lol

  32. Brave Horatio says:

I don’t think this is a case of splitting the party. I think it’s a case of whittling the party. Observe:

Murai and Digger leave the temple, and are joined by
    Grim Eyes, then later
    Herne, then later still
    Shadowchild

    Shadowchild departs, followed by
    Herne, and then finally
    Grim Eyes, and at last
Digger and Murai return to the temple.

That it didn’t feel artificial at all is some good writing. Bravo!

  33. The Procrastinator says:

Right. So Grim Eyes is going to go all stealthy-like to see what’s going on with her people, being very careful not to bump into any of the Veiled – and then rendezvous at the local Veiled HQ and barracks. She must be very distracted.
