Digger

Digger, of course, finds it hard to appreciate any butt that isn’t armored, but hey, takes all kinds…

  1. Are wombat butts secondary sexual characteristics? I am deeply curious about the details of wombat erotica.

  2. Zamael says:

I figured hyenas would be more picky about the species.

  3. BarGamer says:

Digger has an… armadillo fetish? Maybe pangolin? Am I reading that commentary right?

  4. Den Whitton says:

    Wombat butts are Legendary.

  5. Kaja Rainbow says:

Wombats have armored butts. Just one of their many qualities.

  6. Kevinbunny says:

Wombat tuckus is notable for being about three inches thick. Their typical response to predators in their burrows is to *turn around*, knowing that not even the most determined critter isn’t going to be able to gnaw their way through that.

Digger herself is notable for having taken a dagger to the butt during a fight. It annoyed her, not so much because it hurt, but because it is like the one place that sticking a knife in *won’t* bother a wombat, and the silly human had to find it, and it’s a crappy steel blade, to boot…

  7. JewelWolf says:

Ah yes, that was when Murai first appeared.

  8. Otookee says:

Ursula definitely seems to be drawing Digger’s snout as longer and narrower (compare to the little climbing vignette at upper right). More – dare I say it – hyena-like? Perhaps becoming a tribe member has more than just metaphysical implications… 🙂

  9. Hunter says:

    Aw, bye bye Herne!

  10. TekServer says:

Re Digger’s snout: I doubt there’s any special implication there. Her snout has occasionally taken on this elongated look before, especially in profile.

    It’s an optical delusion.

    😉

  11. Rowanmdm says:

Speaking of optical illusions, Grim Eyes seems to be missing her right arm in the middle panel. I know it’s behind her back, but it just looks a little funky to me, which is not normal for Ursula’s art, which makes it stand out.

    I wonder if/when we’ll get to see Herne again…

  12. Ch'mera says:

Digger is starting to look more and more like a Clanger.

  13. Quakey says:

Ah, Grim Eyes. Don’t ever change.

  14. wolfofsilver says:

XD LMAO. I had to do a double-take on Grim Eyes’ comment there….Wow.

  15. Werebear says:

Um, you know, I went back and checked. There are no good shots of Herne’s butt. I think, considering the conversation today, we’re owed a nice pic, so we can judge for ourselves, don’t you?

  16. JewelWolf says:

    @Werebear
    Rule #34, or rule #35.

  17. JewelWolf says:

    @Werebear
I think you’ve just set up a Rule 35. Anyone agree?

  18. JewelWolf says:

Sorry guys. That was a double post.

  19. Rey Fox says:

I hate to see you leave, but I love to see you walk away…

  20. Drooling Fan Girl says:

She could be just thinking that he would make a yummy ham.

  21. Willow says:

Ah.. I always love the awesome portrayal of hyena gender role-reversal. Awesome, Ursula!

  22. Danster says:

actually– I though he had a great rack….

  23. Stryde says:

Digger’s nose… slowly… getting… longer… pretty soon, you’ll be telling us she was secretly an advark in disguise all along.

  24. Mark Antony says:

…does it count as bestiality when your head is a different species from the rest of your body?

  25. Xyon says:

Depends what you’re doing to yourself…

  26. TekServer says:

    > bestiality

I have a great deal of respect for most of the main characters. With that in mind, I prefer a less demeaning term, such as “cross-species intimacy”.

    😉

  27. JewelWolf says:

I agree with that. I’ve also noticed that the only people who look at this website are the kind of people that have respect for Ursula and her work.

  28. TekServer says:

Granted, and I realized belatedly that “demeaning” may have been a poor word choice; I didn’t really mean to imply that anyone here didn’t have the requisite respect for Ursula’s world. Merely making a joke …

    😛

  29. KHGV Defenestration says:

It’s not bestiality if yer partner is sapient – then they’re not a “beast”, afterall.

    …well, maybe in a metaphorical sense. ;7

  30. BunnyRock says:

Okay Ch’mera, I loved the Clanger point. It is now only my legendary self restraint and the absence of sufficient hard disk space that is preventing a fanfic titled “Digger versus the Soup Dragon” from being spawned. It’s more of a “Noggin the Nog” setting, what with the magic and swords and quests, but its still a good mental image, Digger and Grim Eyes watching as Shadowchild rides the Soup Dragon across the moon shouting “Wheee!” As it stands I may yet knit a woollen Digger, to replace the hand-stitched Chtullu we put atop the tree for archaeology Christmas Parties.

As for the Rule 34, I think we’ve probably already crossed that bridge, anthropomorphised the bridged, and shipped it with the toll who lives under it, all lovingly depicted in a series of full-colour spreads: The comments about Ed/Digger and Grim Eyes/Herne leave me with little hope that fan made art has not already gone there, somewhere in the crowding dark that is the web. If i was Ursula I’d just make my own Rule 34 art. It’d be over and done with, i wouldn’t lose sleep worrying what other people had done to my lovely characters because i would have already done it myself, and i wouldn’t stumble onto my first piece of Digger Rule 34 and have my mental image of charters scarred AND be shocked at the poor quality of the artwork. Plus i could burn it afterward. Sort of like a vaccination, to protect against sudden attacks of lovestruck fangirls of an artistic bent.

and Danster… for shame…. you beet me to it…

  31. Arrkhal says:

It would be entirely practical for wombat butts to be a secondary sexual characteristic. Thick butt means more likely to survive, which means your kids are more likely to survive, and their kids, etc.

  33. Elkian says:

I keep getting the feeling that Digger’s going to get back home, and turn out to be in the wrong timeline

  34. Morbid Penguin says:

Apperently Wambat mating is quite the sight to behold Tice with a J
