  1. Domino says:

    oppression of the vertically challenged!!!

  2. Jessica says:

I realise the hyenas don’t vary in height as much as it appears on the lower strips, but I find it funny that the shortest one is the one that talked about Digger being short.

  3. Jon says:

Well, yeah. I mean, Digger must be REAL short, if even that one can call her “awfully short”.

  4. EveryZig says:

“But not the good kind of dead” XD

  5. BunnyRock says:

Far Right. The one with the staff. I Like that one, the only sensible comment out of the lot of them so far. Hasn’t commented on appearance, but is making decisions based on known past behavior.

Of course, there’s a very real possibility that one of them having a higher intelligence that the others could turn things from merely awkward to very, very bad. Unfortunately for Digger (and everyone else for that matter) Intelligence and poor judgment are not mutually-exclusive.

  6. Eugene says:

She also appears to be the oldest. For that matter, #2 seems to be a little young for an “elder”. Then again, it IS a hunter-gatherer society. Where 30 is considered old age. Still..

  7. Absconding_Cascade says:

For more proof of Intelligence and poor judgement not being mutually exclusive please consult Doctor (Meredith) Rodney McKay (http://stargate.wikia.com/wiki/Meredith_Rodney_McKay) about what happened to 5/6ths of The Doranda system(http://stargate.wikia.com/wiki/Doranda_system) and/or Doctor Nicholas Rush (http://stargate.wikia.com/wiki/Nicholas_Rush) about dialing the ninth chevron Stargate Adress(http://stargate.wikia.com/wiki/Destiny).

  8. Kewitt says:

Actually…. people in traditional hunter-gather societies have an average lifespan of sixty. And this is the !kung who live in the Kalahari.

of course on the other hand hyenas only live to be…. 20-45 years.

  9. JET73L says:

#2 looks pretty old. Just look at her (or his) eyebrows and the apples of her (or his) eyes and the scruff at the edges of the face.
It’s probably a she, based on Hyena organization and the anthropomorphised shape of the hyena’s torso, but I don’t recall anyone in the comic saying that all of the elders are female (and if they did, or even if they didn’t, I pre-emptively admit to my fallibility).

#5 seems… potentially something. Hope for helpful, plan for dangerous.

  10. Mental Mouse says:

Eh, they’re all giving her shit on principle. Standard dominance testing.
