The Dead God is NOT Cthulhu. Cthulhu was NEVER benevolent, nor part of nature as we (or hyenas) understand the term. You could argue (as of this point) that Sweetgrass Voice is a form Nyarlathotep likes to take when he’s visiting this world, but it’s more plausible that SV is simply a local demon.
SPOILER WARNING:
Especially considering that an infant local demon is able to fight SV later on. Nyarlathotep would have absolutely destroyed Shadowchild without appreciable effort. The power balances portrayed here simply aren’t consistent with Cosmic Horror.
“Gods go with you, friend,”
“Why would you *say* that?”
“Gods go with you.’
“Christ, I though we were friends. What kind of thing is that to say to someone?”
*fans the atheism towards his face*
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh. How refreshing.
“May the gods go with you.”
“Why don’t you just stab me now, get it over with?”
Does gods include the dead god (Cthulhu) and the black mother?

I’d pick getting exactly what I want, but that’s just ’cause I tend to use what I have before I start asking for stuff.
