Of course, talking is no measure of anything. Just try not to kill anyone you know, and only kill for food. Which is exactly what the Hyenas have been doing.
Parrots talk, so do Ravens, and Chimpanzees can learn sign-language, who can say what would talk and what would growl. If only we(all living beings) all had vocal cords and spoke the same language, war would be far more uncommon.
I disagree and point you to the Babel fish, which “by effectively removing all barriers to communication between different races and cultures, has caused more and bloodier wars than anything else in the history of creation.”
“This is no way to run a hunter-gatherer society!” I love it!

Sadly, plenty of humans who understood each other’s language very well indeed have spent lives* making war.
* in both senses.
I dunno, wars might become more common.
Cows revolting over being milked and slaughtered comes to mind
I hate to say it but “Hunter Gatherer Society” is also a great name for a band.
@Andrew, c.f. Tower of Babel. We screwed up that sharing-a-language thing already.
Well, in THAT mythology, we did, anyway…
and I Lol’d at Grim-Eyes… I love you, Ursula!
The fish may well have been trying to communicate. I mean, if they’re intelligent enough to get party gear-! Maybe it was celebrating it’s freedom!?
Nice catch, Lord the 22nd!
There’s so much about this page that’s perfect, it’s hard to pick one thing to quote.
