Ursula’s style and drama with gods and the supernatural is fantastic, if she ever writes her own universe & mythology a la tolkien I’ll be the first to buy it.
The Statue’s dialogue really floored me, especially that last phrase. I mean, I’m used to him being surprisingly wise, for lack of a more specific word, but this is amazing.
No. 2: Isn’t this the first time we’ve ever seen something happen that Digger wasn’t around for? We’ve always seen action where she is, and not where she isn’t.
The Gods and anyone else would be fools to doubt Murai’s courage. She may be a bit of a crazy-bucket, but what she lacks in sanity she more than makes up for in bravery. I really hope nothing bad happens to that kid.
I wonder if those of us that are gamers begged hard enough, would Ursula allow the creation (or better yet help create!) an RPG based in Digger’s world??
Hopefully, Murai manages to do SOMETHING to change Jhalm’s mind. I can’t shake the feeling that he’d be a powerful ally if someone could convince him to listen for a change. And, as we found out waaaaay back when Murai was fairly new to us, Jhalm is capable of regret, especially as it applies to Murai. I’m ambling through the archives yet again, so I was reminded of this.
@Barry. I seem to remember at one point, Digger had been ranting at Ganesh about the chance to go home or stay and help Murai. Ganesh affirmed that it was within Digger’s right to go home. Of course Our brave, Wombat decided the harder of the two roads, to stay and help Murai. Right after Digger stalked out, we got a one frame shot of Ganesh saying “Heh.” Almost a, “Got ya sucker.” As an aside I’m sure it would not go amiss if a certain statue was to turn a little more God and a little less statue for the moment. Wait where’d the shrew go again?
Murai looks really young in that second panel. I mean, she is young, but she’s usually so incredibly poised and enigmatic enough that it’s hard to put any concrete age on her.
I’d like to make an announcement. The social networking and forums-based website, gaiaonline, has released a wombat item for members’ avatars! If any other Digger readers are gaians, get that item.
@Hawk, considering Murai started her Life in a MUD, an RPG should not be too far for her. Besides… squash vs trolls? Better call in some flying-rat cavalry and ocular slugs to help you out!

I’m getting ready for an amazing inspiring fight scene betwen Murai and Jhalm.
There is amazing pathos in Murai’s pose in the first scene. So simple, but it says so much.
Also, who was it saying “It is time, Murai” in the previous page? That wasn’t the statue’s textbox style. Jhalm there already?

The shrew went to fetch the hyenas. Which could turn very bloody. I hope not – I would like Grim Eyes and Boneclaw Mother to survive…
