I dunno, Ed’s art always seemed more ‘proffesional’ than those doodles. Actually, at least one of those arrows look like the ones Digger was drawing on the cave walls on the way in to the dead god.
I think Richard and Bwee may both be right. Do we have any way to know whether Helix’ shadow might have been eaten by the (perhaps then-infant) SGV? He would have been nearby during construction, he would have been a possible threat (does SGV die if He-is does?) and afterwards SGV would be able to mimic his knowledge. If I were Digger, I’d want to head back to that room and see if Helix’ spirit can return. If he can’t, “Helix” may have been a SGV disguise.
@Pelican Yes, the previous chapter covers have been in color.
I’m also really hoping for a return of Ed, and the oracular slug π Plus, aren’t we about due for an appearance from the lizard? Or did I just miss the last cameo?
Looking through rose-tinted glasses, I’d say SGV will be defeated, He-Is will be returned to something approximating his previous status (although perhaps still subordinate to She-Is), and Ed will return to his erstwhile tribe.
Perhaps Ed could marry into the tribe. I understand there’s an eligible female called Digger. π
I find two critter-heads. I’m not trying to say what they are, or about to speculate. But here’s where I see them and my best jab at describing the shapes and lines before me.
1) lower-right corner of the picture, already remarked upon a few times. The TEETHS are in the mouth of a head, some sort of duckish demon-looking thing, whatever it may actually have been intended to depict. A brown spot is the iris in an eye above the straight strong black line through the upper jaw. The curve above, around, and to the right of the jaw seems like the top of the head. To the left of (in front of) the head’s lower jaw is a diagonal slanty “Y” of a line which looks like a simple stick-figure arm and hand/claw.
2) well above and to the right of Digger’s head, above the reddish-brown squiggle-filled triangle with the cave mouth as one of its sides. less obvious than the first, with some very faint lines and shadows forming part of the outline. looks like a dinosaur head with mouth pointing down and right. solid lines make a loop with jagged lines inside: mouth and teeth. some jagged points above the front of the mouth look like little dino-nose-horns. a solid line curves up and left to where a dip in the line and a smooth contour of the rock face form the bounds of an eye, and beyond. from where the line gives out a shaded contour in the rock face picks up, continues, then curves down and back around to delineate the back of the skull then down for the back of the head/neck.
Those are the only two I see without feeling some serious “making up shapes in clouds” vibes. There are other circles and arrows, and shapes, though. If there are “photos with paragraphs on the back”, I’m missing them, Alice.
No, it’s not. Try fiddling with the contrast and brightness settings on your monitor. If you’re using a TV as a monitor (even if it’s HD), try switching to a regular computer monitor. There is most definitely a picture there, it’s just very dark.
Oooh.. That looks like Ed’s cave! Yay! More Ed! Sweet, tasty, chocolatey Ed, with nuts! No, wait, that’s fudge. Still.. Ed!
New chapter! Whee! Izzat Ed’s cave or He Is’s tomb? ::squints::
Hmm… I think you are off your ‘Ed there, Kevin.

The drawing at bottom right looks like a wombat smacking its forehead in exasperation. Mr Helix, possibly?
Richard sees Helix – I see Sweetgrass.
So… penultimate chapter then?

Looks like:
Wavy line next to an arrow.
Arrow next to a couple of circles.
A different arrow.
TEETHS!
At least that’s how it looks to me.
ooh- color! that’s exciting … I don’t know if I remember that from previous chapter heads
I really look forward to reading it.
Destiny is wombat-shaped!
Who knew?
*Squees in happiness* Hurrah! Now I’ve just got to wait for thursday … aww ..
It would be interesting if she could draw Ed back into the story line, it would be nice to see him be lucky again.

I can’t believe my luck. I found this site the day after the last page of chapter ten was released. This is perfect timing.

OK, enough of the rose-tinted glasses for now.

How is anyone seeing anything in this? It’s a completely blank page π
