I’ve been reading for a while, but this is the first time I’ve commented. I feel like I should say something important or useful, but all I’ve got is… beautiful. -wibble-
Could this be the Earthquake that is referred to in “Little Mother of Earthquakes”? – If SC succeeds in “teaching them to be good”, that would be an Earthquake for everyone – good demons would be a significant change.
*Sniffle/pout* Miss you, Shadow. You’ll always be one of my top three characters.
Plushies in general would be awesome. Or slightly pose-able action figures. I can see Digger coming with her pickaxe and the Oracular Slug, maybe a vampiric squash. *waggle eyebrows*
I make crocheted creatures (amigurumi), and I have thought since I first saw Shadow that he he was calling out to be made in yarn. Even more so after meeting SweetGrass Voice and getting all spikey. If I end up making him at some point (I have a lot of projects I have to finish first), I’ll send you a pic, Ursula.
> I really hope that we hear back from Shadowchild…we need to know how his mission goes. As he said, “Someone must teach them to be good.”
OMG! For some reason this caused a mental picture to pop into my head – of Shadow returning later (at just the right time, of course) at the head of an army of shadowchildren!
Of course, there would be no marching involved … an army of shadowchildren would be like an army of cats – potentially highly effective, but not very organized …
Well, in the Snifflepedia.com today, there is now a HUUUUGE entry under “Digger (webcomic)” and the article subsection heading “Shadowchild”. Ursula, congratulations. For several pages and weeks now, you have had people writing out in terror and various other strong emotions, writing directly to one of the characters in believable voice (which I don’t much care to read myself, but which nonetheless is a valid way for the folks to express their enjoyment and wonder in your work, and a mark of your accomplishments), sniffling/crying/wauuughing/nuuuu-and-mewwwing,, and so on. Snifflepedia’s Five Tears tribute to you and everything leading to this passage; it’s more than a moment — it’s all the buildup that made the moment meaningful, too.
darn it…. SpotWeld… do yo realize what a Shadowchild Plushy would do to my reputation. And yet now you have said that i can’t not own one no matter. after all if people are going to come in and see me crying ad webcomics a Shadowchild plushy to hug wouldn’t make it any less embarrassing and would help a lot.
Darn it! I Just re-read Irrational fears… I should have seen this coming. If you havent read Irratioan fears… then A, whats wrong with you? Hear it is.
and B, Look at the last page. look at Dusty. This was always going to happen. Darn you Ursula TWO nights in a row you’ve got me crying whit two different webcomics. And yet i’m still buying people your stuff for Christmas. My family are going to get prints of very confusing artwork! I hope you’re happy!
a “god” in this setting is something that people beleive in so strongly that it becomes impossible to disbeleive. Theoretically if that something was a person that already existed then that person would become the new god……..or become a part of it.
I don’t know if anyone else has remarked on this before, but I just realized what grown-up Shadow’s hairstyle reminds me of. Either Kokopelli or those little water people in the Evian commercials. Strange, considering there’s nothing trickster-like about him now; certainly elemental though.
It’s the little details that catch your attention and keep you from bursting into tears at the story, really.
This made me sad. Webcomics don’t normally do that to me. You have pulled off shadowchild’s growing up and ultimate leaving so well that I got teary eyed. Thank you for this wonderful Webcomic.
**sniffle** Several years after reading this as it was posted I recommended it to a friend and then just HAD to come back and reread it from the beginning. I cried the first time I read this page; this time’s no different.
You do realize you have created a gigantic market for Shadowchild plush toys, don’t you?
Shadow was and always will be the coolest of the cool.
What else can I say that hasn’t already been said?
I know – Dibs on the Shadowchild plush!
(Insert joke about Freud’s Moses and Monotheism).
My, that’s stunning. Poignant, yet hopeful… and the art is beautiful. I’m looking foward to Chapter Eleven!
This is my favourite scene in the comic after the one where Digger tries to explain about “morality in a nutshell” to Shadowchild.
I really, really hope we’ll see Shadow again. *sniffle*
Goodbye Shadow-no-longer-child. We’ll miss you and hope to see you again. Now I need a hug 🙁
> Actually, I’m afraid it’s Digger who’s in danger of becoming a god.
Now why would you want to say such a terrible thing about her?
😉
*bawls inconsolably*

Quoting SpotWeld: “You do realize you have created a gigantic market for Shadowchild plush toys, don’t you?”
OMG WANT!!!!1!
I really hope that we hear back from Shadowchild…we need to know how his mission goes. As he said, “Someone must teach them to be good.”
This was the perfect time for me to discover this. I absolutely LOVE it.

Plushies would be far more awesome, though.
Shadoooow ;.;
Awww! Come back soon, Shadow!
This is the first time I’ve commented too and I also can’t think of anything to say… -wibble- ;_;

mmf… best of luck shadow..
OMG this tears at my heart. In a bittersweet way. Thank you.
Talk about paying it forward…wow.
*cries*

Forgive the abruptness, but I just realized, ‘Shadowlescent’ S.C. looks like a newt or maybe a salamander

I came upon this page just as the closing notes of Coheed and Cambria’s The Final Cut were playing on my media player.
Oh god that only made it worse ;_;
Did anyone notice that this time, instead of fading into another shadow, Shadowlecent disappeared by fading into the light?
this whole time all she had to say was that your home is where your heart is, and maybe he wouldve stayed, idk… he is coolest, though
Goodbye Shadow I’ll miss you. I now have a new shadow on my liver.
I’d vote for both Digger and the Shadowchild on Patchtogheder.com
This gave me sniffles. Just thought you should know.
I don’t think I’ve cried so hard since I watched “Homeward Bound”.
Ironically, those tears were also for a “Shadow”. lol
