For those feeling cheated by not getting to witness the big fight scene between Shadowchild and Sweetgrass-Voice, let me say that I could have drawn it. It would have been a single big black panel with several “———-!” sound effects. At the end, you still wouldn’t know who won, and it would have delayed this page by two days.
Also, it would have felt totally cheap to draw.
What I want to know is how everyone slept through a demon battle. I mean, the party consists of a Hyena hunter leader, One of the veiled (a little crazy, but still) and a wombat that woke up when being stalked by Ed. Plus it looks like Digger was sleeping right against the fire pit.

Well, I do hope SC talks a bit about what happened though, that would be very interesting. O’course, now I wonder if SC just ate Sweetgrass’ shadow, or did it actually eat Sweetgrass itself. If it did, I wonder what the Cold Servants will be doing (assuming that Sweetgrass was actually the one commanding/animating them) with that heart.

Are the two separable? Perhaps a demon’s shadow is both soul and body.
Digger is startled by how much it grew when her back was turned, it is weepy and emo, “dressed” all in black with some white spots, and the future holds difficult and embarrassing questions, mainly due to the influence of a third party. Therefore, I propose the much more suitable, Shadowteen.
Someone should really send him a few Death Cab For Cutie singles.

You articulated better than I did. Being a mom, sometimes I just know when the kid needs a hug, even if I can’t say why.
The implications of everything that just happened, regardless of how many “blows” were or were not exchanged, is EXACTLY why I think Shadowchild is upset.

I actually like this form of Shadowchild more than I liked the little one. Also, I loled at Digger’s face when she saw him.
Sc ate a part of Sgv, the part that was projected into the monastary, and had a growthspurt becuase of that..

I agree with Tekserver. I don’t know why everyone is thinking that Shadowchild ate Sweetgrass Voice (or even the part of Sweetgrass Voice that was in the monastery). I just thought that Sweetgrass boice had retreated.
Shadowchild’s a bird! Or maybe an archaeopteryx or raptor (I like how that compares to Famine’s featherless visage).
I saw the term “Shadowlescent” a while back (probably about this comic, since I’m just catching up from having discovered Digger a few days ago), I like that more than Shadowteen.
And I do wsh that people would stop calling Shadowchild a he or she. We (both the English-speaking world and the fandom of Digger in particular) really do need to adopt a new (or old) word for non-gendered being.
It’s interesting to come back and read everyone’s opinions in the comments – especially my own! – after all is said and done.
