  1. Jon says:

Ah. First time through, and I think I already see what Ed’s “crime” was.

  2. TekServer says:

    Mmm, probably not …
    (*no spoilers, no spoilers*)

    😉

  3. JET73L says:

No. *sadness* Blood Eyes is… too hopeful. I want to hug both Eds and the Blood Eyes as of the story.

  4. TekServer says:

How could any sapient mother, of any species (or any we could hope to understand, anyway) not be tempted, against all odds, to hope for the safe birth of her child? I could never fault Blood Eyes for that.

The “is not being much cruel” part, though … I despise cruelty, especially when paired to abuse of a supposedly loved one. In TekServer’s Big Book of Ethics and Morality, spousal abuse is one tiny step above child abuse, and both are unforgivable sins.

And the “is often kind” part … that rings so true to the typical rationalization of an abuse victim. I can only hope that Ursula’s deep understanding of this subject comes from her anthropological studies, and not from any personal experience.

(It bothers me that no smiley is appropriate for this comment. It’s rare that I deal in such serious fare.)
