  1. Tindi says:

    *shifty eyes*
Heroes: Suicidally gloomy while sober, homicidally brave when drunk!

  2. NigaiAmai Yume says:

Um, can we get a little more info on the “death of another kind”, Ganesh? Buddy??
*distrusts the Veiled as a whole even MORE now*
Very true about the hero/lunatic thing, though.

  3. Ion288 says:

I beleve that the death of any one oposing them, threatenig them or looks att them funny.

  4. Eugene says:

In fact, statue, I’d go so far as to say the two are inherently linked.
Interesting that Digger’s society has invented chewing gum. They’re quite the inventors, what with their glow sticks, steel, and taxes.

  5. Rowanmdm says:

@ Yume: I don’t think the statue meant the veiled would cause her death through their actions or inactions in any way. Murai’s mental state is very fragile, and a great part of that is her guilt and indecision about her position with the Veiled. Remember how she reacted to Jahim defending her from the cold ones? He did nothing wrong in his relations to her really, but it still really messed her up. The presence of any of the veiled would make those issues come to the forefront and take away what stability she has, no matter if the veiled were truly wonderful.

Actually, I think Murai would have less problems if she saw the veiled in a less idealized light.

  6. Vespasiana says:

On the wombat scale of stability, I’d imagine that chewing gum and willpower are just above chewing gum and magic.

  7. TekServer says:

    I’d say
chewing gum + willpower = chewing gum
since willpower is such a common trait amongst wombats that it is taken for granted.

    😉

  8. Mark Antony says:

@Tindi Nice reference! The Color of Magic, if I recall.

  9. Tindi says:

    Yay! Someone recognized it! ^^

  10. Murasaki says:

Yes…being a lunatic and being a hero are unrelated. Often, one is both.
    Gods…I love this comic.

  11. Shiitake says:

Hero, a definition: “An idiot who gets other people killed.”
Think about it practically, and it makes a lot of sense…

  12. JET73L says:

“If we live, we’re heroes. If we die, we’re idiots. Let’s not be idiots.”*

    *Paraphrased from I-don’t-even-remember.

  13. Matthias says:

Murai being prophesied explains a *lot*, really. Even if she doesn’t know about it.

  14. TekServer says:

I’m enjoying coming thru here again, 10 years later, and finally getting all the Pratchett references!

    😜
