Vorpal blades going snicker-snack do not seem to be in keeping with wombat thinking. A good pickaxe with just the right carbon content in the steel, perhaps with a higher carbon content core and a skin of softer low-carbon steel filed down to revel the core at the pick for a hard point, and a shaft of a well-seasoned fine-grained hardwood, going “Thump”, accompanied by a shout of “remember tunnel 17!”, would perhaps be more appropriate.
I find it slightly odd that no one has commented on the fact that Digger would have to walk on her hands for brief stretches of the journey with Manuel.
I hope her forepaws count, and she maintains sufficient balance. Even an anthropomorphised wombat would likely have trouble keeping her head from dragging while staying upright and (if possible or necessary) able to see while doing a handwalk.
“shunned.” Nice; subtle.
We all get a little frumious from time to time.
they remind me of the unicorns from that creepy youtube video.
“Shun the non-believer. Shun. Sssshuuun.”
and it’s been a while since I read Alice. I have to admit, I didn’t get it until I read the comments.
oh my, maybe they are frumious. But once again they will be allowed to gimble with the slithy toaves in the wabe ^_^
My nerdy little heart is kvelling.
Now I am hoping that Digger will get a vorpal blade and a snicker-snack.

And why not, couldn’t make that poem stranger….
Their logic is impeccable. I’ll give them that. It’s hard to fault the eternally optimistic.
They remind me of the skin-lizards here…
they look like sock puppets
I do hope they go galumphing back.
yes they do, Walt. I love that last panel, and I have had at least 5 mini nerd heart attacks in the last minute
They remind me of the skins

Do these guys remind anybody else of sock puppets?
