one thing thats been bugging me is what happened to her breasts, in the early comic she had some but once she was wounded they kinda vanished (might have been earlier then that)
it was kinda nice to see that she had a easily definable gender instead of a bit of a more cartoonish non gendered look
Also, in most animals, there isn’t really a visible difference between males and females. Given Digger’s practicality, and the style of the comic in general, I think the later, androgynous version is a better fit.
Wrong. There is a visible difference; it just isn’t the same in humans and so not so obvious to us. More experienced people could tell you more on this subject.
Eagle0600 – there’s very little difference to even the well-trained eye. Males are slightly larger on average, but to conclusively tell the sex of a wombat you’d have to get pretty intimate. And Digger seems the type not to take that kind of intrusion kindly…
And yet Grim-Eyes is obviously female, as far as breasts go at least, things get a bit harder to fathom past (or should I say below?) that. One of more interesting mammals as far as gender differentiation goes, one might even say it’s a bit peculiar…
It could all be explained thus: Digger’s so-called “breasts” were a coincidental development of muscle – swinging a pick is great for the pectorals – and fat. This development is not typically seen in “our world” because it is peculiar to bipedal, sapient wombats (probably due to a combination of tool use and a diet that is both more plentiful and higher in fat than what “our” wombats typically eat). The “breasts” have disappeared simply because Digger has lost weight: she has spent the last couple of weeks doing things that tend to promote rapid weight loss, like getting a lot of unfamiliar exercise (hiking, mainly, and some “sparring”), recuperating from injuries, and dealing with a lot of high stress situations. Plus, we don’t really know if her diet has changed. She might be eating less here than she typically does at home, and what she is eating might well be strange, more or less rich than she’s accustomed to (for example), and thus might not be agreeing with her. Her “regularity” might be affected one way or the other. (Very minor spoiler: more on this later.)
Others have noted that Digger’s “breasts” should properly be interpreted as pecs. (That said, an F2M I know online has noted that when you stick a binder over double-D breasts, they end up looking like scary pecs.)
As far as Shadowchild… without getting into spoilers, it’s just opened up one of the major arcs of this comic.
Oh, Shadowchild. I love that kid.

I kinda like the lack of breasts in later comics. As the characters page says, she is a marsupial.
Yes, I like her appearance better without them.

(I love that last line.)

I nominate snakes for this discussion… They need to be about as intimate as you can get.

Aaaaand five more years off Digger’s life expectancy; thank you, Shadowchild. 😛
I’m pretty sure that he is evil, deep down, in his shadow
Shadowchild: A character for whom hanging from a tree and quoting Metallica lyrics is one of the more normal of his daily activities.
And subjectively at least ten years. -LOL
Evil? No. Chaotic neutral, definitely.
Made of or classified as? Specify, Shadowchild!
