She presumably can read Wombat just fine, its just the scene were she was asked if something was written in wombat and she said she couldn’t tell because she didn’t know the alphabet was probably akin to me trying to read English words writer in cyrilic, sure, i know the language, but i’m still not going to be able to read them.
Jam – It used to be that an alphabet was just a set of symbols you used to spell out the sounds; there was no such thing as standard spelling, and which set of letters you picked did not indicate anything about the language you were speaking. If someone from ancient Greece wrote out a sentence in Egyptian, he’d probably use the Greek letters. When Digger saw the writing that might have been Wombat, before, she did not recognize the letters them so she didn’t know what language it was.
