Digger

The statuary here is based on the Barong masks from Bali, which are one of the odder things I collect. They’re like brightly colored wooden gargoyles. There’s one over most of the doorways in the house, which both wards off evil and convinces most visitors that I have no taste in interior decorating whatsoever.

i love the last one. it’s just pointing up. =P

  2. Larksilver says:

They’re so horrible they’re terrific. Don’t know if I’d want to look up at them at 2 AM on my way to the bathroom though!

  3. CateranLlama says:

Maybe scaring off visitors is the way they ward off evil…

  4. I think evil is overly obsessed with interior decorating.

  5. GrayGriffin says:

Heh, first time I saw this I thought the original statue’s tongue was flailing in a circle, and I was like “Wait, what?” This is pretty cool. Wish my community had a set-effective burglar deterrent, no?

  6. Tindi says:

Larksilver, I had a life-sized Aragorn standee in the entryway to my apartment. The most entertaining result of him being there was that people would come out of my bathroom, catch him out of the corners of their eyes, and jump. Every. Single. Time. It was HILARIOUS (although I’ll admit I did the first couple times, too).

    @ greygriffen– yeah me too.
that would be awesome also though.

  8. Sophist says:

Well, it’s clear that the local sculptors have too much free time on their hands. And possibly too many psychotropics on their hands as well.

I personally think they’re kind of cute. :3 (But then, I have warm, fuzzy feelings for bunyips.) And now I want to visit Ursula and get a tour of her house and look at all the masks, and I want to visit Tindi and look at her Aragorn.
