    I love the way that the subterranean civilization of the wombats has evidence of having developed in a completely different way to that of Humans. They know the properties of every divverent rock, and learn those useful on the surface in much the same way as we learn how to light the way underground – for expeditions in an unfamiliar environment.
    The idea also has such practicality – a polarised stone that can find the sun, and every bit as useful for navigation as magnetite is. Of course you would learn that if you were from an underground civilization.

    This comic makes me want a diochroite. I have my favourites, but some stones just have neat effects even though I have no arbitrary emotional attachment to them.
